My name is Bagheera, but my foster mom calls me "Baggie." I'm a very large, very fluffy boy! For being such a big guy, I have a teeny tiny voice. Foster mom says my "roar" doesn't match my body. I'm very sweet, but shy in new environments. It takes me a little bit to warm up, but once I do, I'm super affectionate! I love head and neck scratches. I'm not really a fan of being picked up or kissed on, but I love to be around my foster mom and hang out near her at all times. I can be playful, but tend to have a more chill personality. I have excellent scratching post manners and litter box manners.

Note from my foster mom 8/23/16:

Bagheera is a very sweet cat and totally relaxed in my home. I can say with 99% certainty that he was abused by his previous owners. He's shy of hands coming towards his face/head. When he first arrived to my home, he used to flinch and/or hiss and/or swat at me (my hands) when I would reach out to pet him. On occasion, he will still act unsure of my hands and back away. He doesn't swat or hiss any more. Once he realizes that I'm going to pet and scratch behind his ears, which he LOVES, he just melts. It took him about 2 months to feel comfortable/relaxed in my home and understand that he was safe and wouldn't be hit again. In a new environment and with new people, he may revert to his previous behavior and will need to learn to trust [his] new people. I do not expect him to move fluidly into a new home...meaning, he will take time and patience to adjust.

He is very affectionate, but it's on his terms and comfort level. He does not like to be picked up. At best, he will tolerate it. He hates to be kissed on his head or face. I've been working on him in regards to this and when I'm scratching behind his ears or his head, I will lean in and we touch foreheads. That is acceptable to him, but kisses still are not accepted or welcome. He does like to sleep in bed with me. He won't curl up with me, but he will curl up within my reach.

He has excellent house manners. He uses the litter box and scratching posts. He loves the tall scratching posts and cat trees. He prefers to stretch up and scratch so tall vertical cat post is a must for him. I have several water bowls in my home and one is on my counter. It was for one of my cats who doesn't like to share with the others; however, Baggie has "claimed" it as his bowl and lounging spot. I feel that if a bowl was not there, he'd find a different [preferential] spot, but I cannot say with 100% guarantee that he would. And, because of his history, correcting that behavior (counters are a “no-no”) would have to be done with a gentle touch and voice.
