For Those Surrendering NTCR Cats
Please do not abandon them or take to other shelters.
If you adopted your cat from NTCR and need to surrender them, please schedule an appointment with us (See link under the Adoption column). We may have a waiting list for openings in our foster homes, so your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Nail/Claw Trimming

Keeping your cat's claws trimmed is one of the most important things you can do for your cat. Your cat's vet tech is happy to do it for you, but it is pretty easy to do at home. Just be careful not to clip too far up into the nail bed. Clipping into the quick results in bleeding so just trim the sharp points.

It is easy to do and before long, you'll be an expert. There are all sorts of instructions online. Below are just two. If you want to read more just search the web.

You might want to have styptic powder on hand when clipping your cat's claws. You can find it at pet stores. If you accidently clip into the quick, dipping the nail in the styptic powder will help stop the bleeding.
