Daedalus is a HUGE cat. Everyone asks if he’s part Bobcat, he’s not. What he is, is a big, gentle soul in a giant cat body. He’s incredibly sweet and a bit shy. After being fully vetted and letting him settle in to his new [foster] home, about 2 weeks, Daedalus got to explore the rest of the house. He thought it was very scary and decided to live under the sofa for about 2 weeks. He eventually got a bit braver, and with some coaxing from me [his foster mom], he decided life in my house isn’t so bad and in fact, is pretty nice. Plus, I feed really tempting canned food in the mornings. Daedalus learned that if he came out with the other cats, he got a second helping of breakfast. He’s exceptionally loving! He loves me, but is slow to warm to new people. He loves his head being scratched and lets me pick him up and cuddle him. He will take some time to adjust to his forever home, but once he does, he’ll be your best furriend! Daedalus as two funny characteristics...his meow is very soft and scratchy sounding. It doesn't fit with his large size. Second, his top lip sometimes gets hung up on his canine. It looks like he’s sneering, he isn’t. Both are funny, quirky and completely adorable! He’s playful and loves the foster kittens in my house. He loves sleeping on the sofa and in bed. He has excellent litter box manners and is learning what cat trees and scratching posts are for. He is FIV positive, but if you're not familiar with FIV, don't be scared about a cat with it. It stands for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). It is a virus that is not transmittable to other species and only spread from cat-to-cat via blood - so deep bite wounds. Veterinary medicine has learned a TON about the disease in recent years. It does not negatively affect a cat's life or lifespan nor does it impact their quality of life. FIV+ cats may have above average dental disease, i.e. need dentals sooner or more often. It's not always a truism with every FIV+ cat. It's really important that when FIV+ cats are taken for yearly check-ups at the vet, their teeth are also checked. Daedalus is in my home with other cats – FIV+ and non-FIV cats – and he has zero issues with them. Daedalus is an awesome cat who is ready for his forever home and human.
