Jack is a very handsome silver tabby who's looking for a nice comfy place to snooze and humans to love. He's a very sweet, mellow guy who would love to be the center of your attention. When he wants attention and pets, he's very chatty. Otherwise, he loves to sleep on beds and lounge about on a sunny (or not sunny) windowsill and watch the world go by. Jack came to us in need of help. He had been injured trying to escape from predators (we were told dogs). His left hip was injured, but there were no obvious puncture wounds. It’s possible/likely that in his hurried attempt to escape, he injured his hip. He did require FHO surgery. “An FHO, or femoral head ostectomy, is a surgical procedure that aims to restore pain-free mobility to a damaged hip.” Jack’s surgery was a success - no issues jumping or walking. He was initially fostered by our vet and did not have issues with other cats or dogs. Jack is FIV positive. If you’re not familiar with FIV, it stands for feline immunodeficiency virus. It is a virus that is not transmittable to other species and only spread from cat-to-cat via blood - so deep bite wounds. It does not negatively affect a cat's life or lifespan nor does it impact their quality of life. FIV+ cats may have above average dental disease, i.e. need dentals sooner or more often, but that is not always the case with every FIV+ cat. It's really important that when FIV+ cats are taken for yearly check-ups at the vet, their teeth are also checked. If you’d like to meet Jack, please complete a [no obligation] adoption application.
